PAINTING
1.Painting was the first medium in which mankind started expressing themselves. Alphabets are paintings.
2.Today art has been made so elite -centric that it has lost the organic link with society. Art must have organic link with society and challenges before it.
3. Thousand years ago ,paintings were inclusive ,means there was space for every single individual.
4.In the prehistoric age paintings were in collective ownership.There was no marketing.the day a painter signed a painting , it became a product and exclusivity and money game came into picture.
5.In a painting , a kind of condensation is done. We can say thousands of words in one painting.
6.There has been two themes in Indian painting- a) religion ; b) women. After the establishment of Mughal dynasty war also came into paintings.When a painter chooses religious and mythical topics,he/she looses creative freedom.
7.In the Modern Indian painting , the work of Raja Ravi Verma(1848-1906) is very significant.Today's Indian painting is oriented around his contribution.
8.The world is 3-D whereas paintings are 2-D. So we can't paint the world we see it.
9.A.N. Tagore and Nand Lal Bosh opposed the colonial painting and adopted nationalist tone.
10. Painting is not all about anatomy,but photography is.
10.In a good piece of art,reality of its age should be reflected.
11.To be modern is to be near to common people. If you are not concerned with public at large , you are not modern.
12.Somnath, Janul Abidin and Chitra Prasad are the great painters of modern India who raised the issues relating to the masses and their sufferings.
13.It is the responsibility of the to register the changes occurring in society and maintain its continuity.
14.Different people can draw different meanings out of a piece of art.It happens to all creative genres.
15.Art and craft of creating a painting and choice of theme-both are equally important.
